Air SE Spares: Glass Tubes, Screen Packs and Capsules
Share
In short: the Arizer Air SE parts that break, clog or go missing are the 70 mm glass aroma tube, the steel filter screens and the silicone stem cap. Keep one spare tube and a couple of stem caps, and add screens only if you use them. Arizer itself says its tubes work best without a metal screen. An in-chamber dosing capsule is a useful extra if you want cleaner reloads. Arizer does not cover glass under warranty, so spare glass is cheap insurance.
What comes in the Air SE box
Arizer lists the Air SE kit as:
- one 70 mm glass aroma tube
- one 70 mm PVC travel tube
- a silicone stem cap
- a stainless steel stirring tool
- four steel filter screens
- an 18650 battery
- a micro-USB cable and the manual
That is a lean kit. With only one glass tube, a single drop can end your sessions until a replacement arrives. Arizer's warranty covers the heater for life and other defects for a year, excluding the battery. Glass is not covered at all.
The spares worth keeping
| Part | Why keep a spare | Our option (lists the Air SE) |
|---|---|---|
| 70 mm glass aroma tube | Only one in the box, and glass is not under warranty | Classic 70 mm stems, pack of 2 |
| Silicone stem cap | Easy to lose, and it helps stop a loaded tube spilling | Pack of 5 or pack of 10 |
| Filter screens (optional) | They clog and bend | Domed basket screens |
| Dosing capsule (optional) | Cleaner chamber, quicker reloads | In-chamber XL capsules, pack of 3 |
Arizer Air SE replacement glass
The glass aroma tube holds the herb in its bowl end and doubles as the mouthpiece. It is borosilicate, which copes well with heat, but it still breaks if dropped or knocked. Arizer's advice is to check any dropped glass for cracks and chips before using it again, and never to put hot glass into cold water.
Your options for spare glass:
- Like-for-like: our classic 70 mm stems match the box length and come as a pair. You can have one in use and one loaded.
- More capacity: the XL floral chamber stems come in 70 or 90 mm and have a deeper bowl. Arizer's own rating for the Air SE with standard tubes is up to 0.3 g.
- Fewer breakages: the Armor-Wrap kit sleeves the glass in a removable black wrap. It reduces the chance of breakage if dropped and keeps the outside cooler to hold. The kit has two 70 mm stems, two 110 mm stems and 25 screens.
- A bigger glass refresh: the Pro accessory stem kit has two angled and three straight 110 mm stems plus 25 push-fit screens. Longer stems give the vapour further to travel before it reaches you.
A new tube can feel tight at first. Arizer's tip is to heat the Air SE to 200°C for one to two minutes, then insert the tube. Do not force it.
Arizer Air SE screen packs
Screens are optional on the Air SE. Arizer's support page says the metal screens are included for convenience but make vapour harsher and dull the flavour. The tube already has a glass screen built in, so Arizer recommends whole or coarsely ground herb with no metal screen.
A screen still earns its place if you grind finely or keep finding bits in your mouth. Our domed basket screens are about 12 mm across and 7 mm deep. They push into the bowl end of the tube and come in normal, fine or coarse mesh, in steel or brass:
- Fine: finer filtration, with a slightly tighter draw.
- Coarse: a more open draw.
- Normal: in between.
Replace a screen when it will not sit evenly, when it stays clogged after a soak, or when the draw stays tight after you have cleaned the tube and screen.
Arizer Air SE dosing capsules
Our in-chamber XL dosing capsules are machined aluminium, about 13.6 mm across and 9 mm tall, with a threaded lid. They do not go inside the glass. The capsule sits in the Air SE's chamber, and the glass tube rests on top. "XL" refers to the capsule's size, not to XL stems. Load a few at home, screw the lids on, and a reload becomes a swap.
Expect a slightly different routine: you load the capsule rather than the tube, and you lift the tube off to change capsules. Our silicone quick-load capsules list the Air MAX but not the Air SE, so we do not recommend them here.
Stem caps and carrying
Cap a loaded tube to help stop it spilling. Our silicone stem caps fit the glass tubes, but are too thick to use with the stock PVC travel tube over them. If you carry several loaded tubes and a spare battery, our Air carry case lists the Air SE and has two side pockets for batteries or stems.
The battery
The Air SE's 18650 is removable. Arizer quotes typically around 80 minutes per charge, depending on use, and about 3.5 hours for a full charge. A second charged battery extends your time away from a socket. Arizer says to use only official Air SE batteries, and to store them part-charged rather than full or flat.
What about O-rings?
Our O-ring kit is listed for the Solo, Air and Air 2. It does not name the Air SE. If your tubes feel loose or leak around the joint, contact us before ordering so we can check what fits your unit.
A sensible spares kit for your routine
| How you use the Air SE | What to keep in the drawer |
|---|---|
| At home, a session or two a day | One spare 70 mm tube and one spare cap |
| Out and about with pre-loaded glass | Two or three tubes, a pack of five caps and a second official battery |
| Fine grind, or bits reaching your mouth | A pack of domed screens, fine or normal mesh |
| You hate cleaning the chamber | A pack of in-chamber XL capsules |
| Clumsy, or using it outdoors | The Armor-Wrap kit |
How to make spares last
- Soak first. Arizer suggests soaking glass in isopropyl alcohol for a couple of hours, then rinsing in hot water and drying fully. Our guide to cleaning Arizer glass stems safely walks through it.
- Cap and pad glass in a bag. Arizer warns that drops and knocks can break glass, and glass is not covered by its warranty.
- Rotate tubes. With two or three tubes, one can soak while another is in use.
If you own more than one Arizer, our Arizer parts finder lists spares by model. The full range of Air SE-compatible glass is in our Solo and Air stems collection.
